Are you looking for a tool to help you craft great headlines?

Are you looking for a tool to help you craft great headlines?

The headline is a critical element when you are writing your blog posts, emails etc.  The reason for this is that depending on the effectiveness of your headline it will determine whether your audience will read your content or not.  This is where the Co-Schedule Headline Analyser comes in.

Just think of all the social media posts you flick through, the emails you scan and even the magazine or newspapers articles you review.  You don’t read them all but the ones that make you stop to take a closer look are the ones where the headline caught your eye and created intrigue.

Unless you are a gifted copywriter you need to ensure you use the best guides and tools available to help you.  An excellent article to check out for copywriting is this one from Neil Patel and my video below, I tell you about the excellent headline analyser tool from Co-Schedule which I highly recommend you check out.

What is a SWOT analysis and why you should still use it

What is a SWOT analysis and why you should still use it

I always recommend to businesses that they should conduct a SWOT analysis when starting to develop their digital marketing strategy.

In my #curlymarketertip video today I go through what the SWOT analysis is and why I feel it should be done at least once by a business.

SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.  As you see by the wording it is easy to understand what you are looking to review about your business.

What I have learnt from doing these is that when you know what you are good at, where you are weak, where are the opportunities and what are the threats that could hamper you going after those opportunities you can begin to cement a clear picture as to how your business needs to proceed.

If you are looking for more information about what a SWOT Analysis is, then check out this post that I wrote.

Why you need to use Twitter lists

Why you need to use Twitter lists

If you are on Twitter, using Twitter lists becomes essential because you will very quickly realise that it becomes virtually impossible to keep up with all of the tweets that are shared each and every day.

Therefore, to be able to ensure you don’t miss out on reading tweets from your clients, prospects and other key people you may follow you should set up a Twitter list for each group of people so that you can easily keep track of the content they are sharing.

Twitter lists are easy and quick to create but by doing so it allows you to become very focused on Twitter.  I always recommend that in the main keep your lists private so that only you can see them.  Another excellent benefit of lists is that especially where you have a competitor list you don’t have to follow a competitor in order to add them to a list.

Why you need to start using Twitter lists today

1 Better Engagement With Your Influencers

At the end of the day, you want to interact, engage and converse with the leaders, visionaries and influencers in your industry.
By having a designated Twitter list or lists, it will allow you to keep up with what these people in your chosen industry are tweeting about, and allow you to retweet, comment, share their material and ultimately help you start to engage and converse with them directly.

2 Lets You Keep Up To Date And Be Relevant

Having hot topics or knowing about the next big thing in your industry, or in the area that you are interested in is like gold.  For example, both the Huffington Post and Mashable Twitter accounts constantly tweet breaking news before a lot of others have even heard of it.  What better way to raise your profile, and your authority, by been first in the eyes of your followers and peers to tweet some breaking news.

3 Ability To Engage With Your Twitter Advocates

Twitter, like all the other social media channels, is about been social and interacting with people.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to engage and share the tweets of those followers who seem to always share, support and re-tweet your content?

By creating a Twitter list of these advocates, you now can engage with them directly on Twitter, and in effect thank them for supporting your content by doing the same back for them.

In effect, this reciprocation when relevant encourages them to share your tweets even more as you begin to grow a lasting two-way relationship.  This is social engagement in action.

4 List Your Clients

Set up a Twitter list of your clients and see what they are posting about.  More than likely you may find that through their tweets there may be new solutions you could offer them, plus you can bring an added proactive dimension to the relationship you have already.

5 Keep An Eye On The Competition

Don’t forget, if you are on Twitter, chances are your competition is too.  See what they tweeting about, posting and sharing, to recognise any potential threats you need to deal with or explore opportunities that you can exploit.

To conclude

As you can see Twitter lists are a feature that you really cannot ignore if you want to get more engaged on the platform.
The positives are overwhelming and the benefits accrued I have no doubt will allow you to elevate your current Twitter strategy.  For more ways to use Twitter lists for your business check out this post from Social Media Examiner.

This one thing is the best tactic I ever employed on Twitter

This one thing is the best tactic I ever employed on Twitter

Twitter is my favourite social media channel. I think the main reason for this is because it is where I get some excellent engagement from many people from all over the world.

One of the big things I have learnt while I have been active is that people love when they are engaged with and when you act 100% human.  Sadly, Twitter is full of auto direct messaging and people who put their tweets on autopilot but I took a different approach a few years back by using Twitter video to personally thank new followers.

In my #curlymarketertip video below I tell you why doing this became the most successful tactic I have ever employed on this channel.

If you are just getting started on Twitter then check out this post where I tell you how to get started on this social media channel.

The importance of using hashtags in social media

The importance of using hashtags in social media

The importance of using hashtags in social media cannot be stressed enough.

It is a very important element to not to forget to use in your social media posts because the # allows your content to be found by people who are interested in various topics.

On Twitter especially the hashtag gives your tweets a better chance of being seen rather than be lost in the millions of tweets sent every second.  You can also look at a trending # to see if you could get involved in the conversation and further create awareness around your brand.

Check out my #curlymarketertip video below where I explain why the hashtag is important so that you understood how to use going forward and if you want to get the most out of Twitter why not check out my detailed post here

Do you know what tagging is and why it is important?

Do you know what tagging is and why it is important?

When it comes to maximising the reach of your posts on social media, tagging is a key element to not forget.

By tagging people or companies, it gives your post the opportunity to be seen and shared with a wider audience while also building relationships for you and your brand.

For example, if I was at a conference and I wanted to tweet out about a particular speakers presentation I would not only tag the conference organiser, but I would also tag the speaker (if they have a Twitter profile).  To tag I would put the @ symbol before their twitter name or handle, mine is @ptwyford, and then send my tweet.

By tagging the speaker in this example above they would get a notification of my comment on Twitter, and if it was positive and complimentary they would probably share my comment, possibly follow me and expose my brand to their audience.

Check out my video below where I explain exactly what it is and how to do it and for more tips and to get started on Twitter check out my post here
